After months of searching, the ideal location was found for a second Soweto toy library on the grounds of an Anglican Church. The toy library will be across the street from where a 1976 student-led uprising against apartheid education policies led to the tragic massacre of 157 children. Before, during, and after photos on this homepage will tell the exciting, unfolding story of ASAP’s ninth toy library!

Yes, even a container like this one holds huge promise. More importantly, so do all the children and teachers who will benefit from its transformation into a library of educational toys. Like ASAP’s other toy library “hubs”, there will be space to train owners and teachers from up to 30 informal daycares as they borrow toys and transform their settings into preschools. Soon, another 1,000+ children will have the chance to learn through play and be prepared for primary school!
