ASAP-Sponsored South Africa Tour Summer 2026

You can be one of the lucky 12 who will have a wonderful July 31-August 14 tour of South Africa. Dr. Kevin Dean is an ASAP board member who led our 2024 tour featured in the photo. Kevin previously led 18 study tours to South Africa for West Chester University students! Direct flights are from Newark to Johannesburg, then to Cape Town, and back to Newark. The first week you will enjoy visits to ASAP’s educational toy libraries and to a few preschools we support. You will get a fuller picture when you meet the passionate director and coaches from the Young Children Program at ASAP’s nonprofit partner PEN. You will explore Freedom Park, the Parliament Plaza, the Apartheid Museum, the sprawling Soweto Township and learn how the Truth & Reconciliation Commission helped heal some of the injury and trauma of Apartheid.

The tour goes on to Pilanesberg Game Park for three safari drives over two days. And then in the south the group will visit the geographic wonders of Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope, visit a penguin colony, explore the Victoria & Albert Water Front and winery, enjoy a cultural dinner at Gold Restaurant, experience apartheid’s impact on District VI, and tour Robben Island, the prison home of Nelson Mandela. Group size is limited to facilitate lots of fun and time to process the learnings and experiences.

The cost will likely be as follows:

  1. $1,850 – Round trip and internal air Newark-Johannesburg-Cape Town-Newark

  2. $3,450 – Shared room land rate + incidental meals and personal items or $3,950
