Our 9th Educational Toy Library Opened July 15, 2026!

Can you believe this plain container has become a beautiful toy library?!  After months of searching, the ideal place was found for a second Soweto toy library on the grounds of the Anglican Church in Orlando West where Archbishop Desmond Tutu worshipped. The toy library is appropriately located across the street from a 1976 student-led uprising against apartheid’s education policies which triggered the tragic massacre of 157 children.

Yes, even a container like this one holds huge promise! More importantly, so do the children and women who will thrive through access to this toy library training hub. The church is offering space for the weekly curriculum planning sessions and monthly early childhood workshops held at each of our ASAP toy libraries. Another 30 informal daycares will develop into effective preschools as they borrow toys and receive mentoring. Babysitters will become teachers and another 1,200+ children will learn through play, prepared to do well in primary school!
